My Journey From Dyke to Dude chronicles the life of Zander Keig, a man who was presumed dead in the womb, assigned female at birth, paralyzed following vaccination at age six, joined a Mexican gang in middle school, was admitted to a mental hospital as a teen, dropped out of high school, enlisted in the military, became an undercover narcotics agent, graduated college and obtained three graduate degrees, became a social worker serving homeless veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs and transgender servicemembers for the US Navy, and was awarded the National Social Worker of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers. Zander’s story goes beyond telling people that it gets better and humorously explains how one person changed their life in almost every way possible and thrived amidst the chaos.
