A beautifully crafted book, skilfully dancing between points in the author’s childhood and the present. I became so absorbed in another’s life that when they finally, reluctantly found their way I cried. The autobiographies of trans people can sometimes risk being transactional, with a past told through the wisdom only later acquired. Alex, however, really conveys what it was like to be in the mind of his former self, enabling you to arrive at the reveal as he did himself. A fine addition to the body of trans works.~ Christine Burns, MBE
